Overview
The 29th Annual Sharks Siesta Key sprint triathlon is known for a beautiful location, terrific post race food spread, and volunteer support. This is the event that started the tradition of great racing on Siesta Key. Come race on the white sands of Siesta Beach and be cheered on to your best finish by the swimmers of the Sharks Swim Team. The race benefits the Sarasota YMCA Sharks which has consistently coached all levels of swimmers from beginners to Olympians since 1961.

Refunds
The Siesta Key Triathlon reserves the right in the event of inclement weather, emergency, or natural disaster to cancel the race or move to a later time. In the event of cancellation, there will be no refund of entry fees. However, the USAT fee, if pre-paid, will be refunded.
Course Description
Triathletes start on the beach at the yellow lifeguard stand. Rectangular swim course in the Gulf of Mexico. Exit the swim at the red lifeguard stand. Transition is in the public beach parking lot.
The bike is 13 miles around Siesta Key on paved roads. The course is well marked with volunteers and signs. Plenty of deputies direct traffic. Slow way down at about mile 4.5 for a tight U turn. This spot will be well marked.
The run is on packed sand on the beach out and back for a total of 3.1 miles. Water stations are at T1, T2, and halfway point on the run.

Racing Strategy
The Siesta Key Triathlon has a challenging transition through sand of about 25 feet before you get to the packed sand. You will run through this sand at the swim to bike transition and bike to run transition. Tip: Take small quick steps to run through this sand. Volunteers will be there to cheer you on through the transition. We will feed you well at the finish line with our great hospitality spread.
Spectator Tips
Siesta Beach is a beautiful place to watch the race. The beach area is wide with an area of trees where the part is located. Car pool if possible since parking in the public beach lot is crowded with athletes' cars.
